Srinagar, Feb 26 (KNO): Reiterating the demand for a coordination committee between the two coalition partners to streamline governance and address key policy matters, J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) chief Tariq Hameed Karra on Wednesday described the current Congress-National Conference relation as ‘workable and functional.’ The JKPCC chief, speaking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that Congress continues to push for clarity on business rules and that the restoration of statehood is their primary demand. “Currently, the relationship is workable and okay. The partnership is functional,” Karra said. He, however, again emphasized on the need for forming a coordination committee between the two coalition partners to streamline governance and address the key policy matters. Karra stated that his party was committed to 'mitigating’ the miseries of the people as outlined in its manifesto. “When we went to the people through district-wise meetings, we found that while they participated in elections with an open heart, their expectations are yet to be met. We hope that after the budget session, with the flow of funds and allocations, these issues will be addressed,” he said. He highlighted that public sentiment strongly favours the restoration of statehood. “People understand that statehood is the biggest issue at this time. They are even willing to take this movement forward,” he said, adding that he has taken the matter to the public and is working to make it a people’s movement. He said as the assembly session approaches, the Congress would continue to press for greater clarity on business rules and push the government to take up the statehood demand with the Centre—(KNO)
